Lead the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, including policies, roles, stewardship, and standards.
Define and enforce data quality metrics, KPIs, and remediation processes.
Oversee metadata management, data lineage, and cataloguing tools.
Partner with legal, risk, and compliance teams to meet regulatory data obligations.
Chair or support data governance councils and stakeholder working groups.
Embed governance practices into platforms, data products, and operational processes.
Promote a data ownership and stewardship culture across business domains.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
Master’s Degree in Data Governance, Data Management, or MBA (preferred).
Experience:
8–12 years of experience in data governance, data management, or information quality roles.
Proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks in complex, regulated environments (e.g., financial services, fintech, telecoms).
Strong stakeholder engagement skills across business, risk, legal, compliance, and technical teams.
Familiarity with data regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, BCBS 239) and enterprise data management principles (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – DAMA.
DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model).
