MEPPI’s Transportation Systems Division (TSD) is seeking a detail-oriented Production Administrator to plan, schedule, and direct the flow of work and materials within the division. In this role, you’ll ensure customer commitments are met by preparing, monitoring, and revising schedules based on material availability, resources, and production capacity. You’ll play a key role in driving efficiency, problem-solving, and ensuring smooth operations from order entry to shipment.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage Master Schedules: Plan, prepare, and execute master schedules to align with sales forecasts and customer orders. Communicate updates to management and address deviations that may affect production timelines.
  • Recommend Corrective Actions: Identify risks of missed deadlines, recommend solutions, and coordinate adjustments with appropriate business sections to recover commitments.
  • Analyze & Report: Create reports to assess efficiencies or bottlenecks, present findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Control Production Flow: Create sub-assembly jobs and shipping requirements to align with schedules and customer needs.
  • Oversee Shipments: Develop and manage shipping schedules, directing production clerks to ensure on-time, cost-effective shipments.
  • Coordinate Across Teams: Regularly communicate with other departments on materials, shortages, delivery schedules, and variables impacting production.
  • Improve Processes: Continuously evaluate scheduling tools and methods, recommend upgrades, and implement process improvements.
  • Manage System Data: Process new orders, maintain master schedules, and update scheduling modules within the Company Business System.
  • Oversee Manufacturing Data: Review manufactured items, create inventory jobs, identify system errors, and resolve issues.
  • Lead Meetings: Conduct weekly Production and Forecast meetings to monitor shop flow and ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Implement Customer Changes: Review and apply customer change notices and engineering change notices (ECNs) as required.
  • Support Training: Provide Business System training to manufacturing department members as needed.
  • Promote Collaboration: Represent the division positively by working cooperatively with MEPPI departments and external contacts.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or operations-related field, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in production scheduling/control, including prior experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Knowledge:
  • Intermediate understanding of production processes, inventory control, raw materials, cycle counting, and cost control.
  • Intermediate knowledge of bill of materials concepts.
  • Skills:
  • Advanced communication skills—interpersonal, verbal, and written—to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to develop and maintain production plans and schedules.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, with emphasis on Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems.
