Principal Architect, Cybersecurity Architecture

Company Description

Our Cybersecurity architecture team works diligently to protect NielsenIQ’s data center and cloud components from cyber-attacks. We’re driving a global security strategy through technology leader partnership, continuously evolving our security systems designs, analyzing industry frameworks and standards to drive more meaningful security outcomes, and actively searching for ways to drive more cohesive security capability delivery across our global estate.

As a Principal Cybersecurity Architect, you will provide visionary leadership and expert guidance to assess, plan, and enact security measures that protect our organization from sophisticated threats and attacks on its computer networks and systems. In this elevated role, you will lead global Cybersecurity Architecture initiatives from conception to completion—including enterprise-level threat modeling, ensuring robust security for cloud-native services, and enabling teams to meet new regulations, policies, standards, and processes that advance NielsenIQ’s global security posture. You will mentor other architects, set architectural direction, and drive innovation across the security organization.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Governance, Risk, and Compliance function, ensuring alignment of security policies with both detective and preventative controls, and continuously enhancing standards, frameworks, and best practices documentation to drive policy consistency and excellence across the enterprise.

  • Establish, nurture, and influence strategic relationships with executive leadership, security teams, and key stakeholders, articulating benchmarks of success, setting organization-wide expectations, and elevating security competencies throughout the company.

  • Own and drive the creation, evolution, and governance of architecture designs, patterns, and blueprints for cybersecurity technologies and processes, while leading and mentoring architects from other teams to develop and complete equivalent artifacts for their respective domains.

  • Deliver authoritative recommendations to technical and project leadership regarding security compliance, drawing on deep expertise and comprehensive research and analysis of relevant legislation and industry standards, including—but not limited to—FEDRAMP, PCI, CSF, ISO, NIST, CIS, as well as cloud provider frameworks.

  • Oversee and expand the development and ongoing management of a comprehensive, global Threat Modeling program in support of enterprise cybersecurity objectives.

  • Remain at the forefront of regulatory requirements, emerging trends, and industry best practices, proactively updating and advising stakeholders and the executive team on their implications for applied security measures and organizational risk posture.

  • Represent and advocate for stakeholders in Enterprise Architecture and Security Architecture councils, overseeing the review and approval processes for all major security initiatives and architectural change programs.

  • Partner with Enterprise Risk Management, Cyber Fraud teams, and other business units to educate and influence stakeholders about potential risks, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of advanced risk evaluation, mitigation, and management processes from an architectural and strategic standpoint.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior and senior architects, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

We’re looking for people who have

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive cybersecurity architecture experience, with demonstrated leadership in enterprise or global roles.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in positions with full accountability for large-scale, global implementation across matrixed organizations.

  • At least 10 years of experience designing and delivering global-scale security solutions utilizing a mixture of cloud and on-premises technologies across a broad array of security disciplines.

  • Proven ability to operate in a constantly evolving environment, making strategic decisions and driving change in the face of ambiguity and complexity.

  • A visionary product and service delivery mindset with a deep understanding of customer and business needs, aligning design strategies and solutions to an overall enterprise cybersecurity roadmap.

  • Demonstrated expertise and ability to influence executive peers, business leaders, and external partners on security matters at a global level, presenting organizational security strategies to multiple audiences and knowledge levels.

  • Exceptional curiosity, advanced problem-solving skills, and a drive for innovation, simplification, and automation at scale.

  • Active contribution and leadership in industry programs, events, and thought leadership initiatives.

  • This position is remote and may require minimal international travel for key meetings and conferences.
