Job Description
Efficiently perform laboratory tests and procedures, analyze test results, ensure accuracy and reliability of test results to establish quality assurance, and evaluate test results to identify potential errors.
Analyze laboratory test results and interpret findings to assist in diagnosis and treatment.
Operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy, and maintaining detailed records of tests performed, including patient information, using computer software systems.
Overseeing and managing the work of other laboratory personnel, and ordering, organizing, and inventorying laboratory consumables and supplies.
Completes operational requirements by overseeing and managing the work of other laboratory personnel, including scheduling and assigning employees and taking responsibility for all aspects of the lab – equipment, employees, supplies, software, and documentation.
As needed, train lab technicians and assistants in the correct use of lab equipment, in addition to coaching and mentoring of lab staff.
Ensuring compliance with all laboratory health and safety rules, regulations, infection control methods, and safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure the safe handling of biohazard materials throughout the laboratory.
Personally performs calibration (or ensures equipment with calibration needs, annually or as needed, are scheduled for calibration with third-party calibration companies) and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
Participate in all Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) inspections and liaise with the council on behalf of the laboratory, while upholding the professional code of ethics and conduct as stipulated by the MLSCN.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
Minimum of 5 Years post NYSC work experience in a hospital-based/medical laboratory setting.
Valid/Current Practitioner License issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Computer literacy and experience with the use of at least one medical laboratory software/laboratory information management system and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Email.
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and the use of laboratory equipment.
Familiar with the use of remote collaborative tools – Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc.
Leadership quality and the ability to supervise junior staff, working as an essential team player to strengthen the laboratory team, is highly desirable.
Must be of good moral character, friendly with good communication skills and who can guarantee and ensure excellent communication with patients, customers and staff.
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Salary
N150,000.00 per month. This will be increased to N200,000.00 per month after the successful probationary period of 6 Months.

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment medical screening.
Must maintain certification/valid practitioner license (annually) with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (Our laboratory will pay your annual practitioner licensing fee).
Willingness to sign “A Medical Laboratory Scientist MOU with the Laboratory” in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Successful candidate MUST reside in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Working Condition
Laboratory work hours may vary, and will typically run for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which allows for reasonable day offs and flexibility in work scheduling.
Work environment involves exposure to biohazards materials and will require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to handle average weight objects and some standing and walking.
