Chicago, Illinois, Location: Illinois: Chicago Job Description: Manages daily updates to Institute websites, refreshing content with the latest news, events, research, etc. Plans and develops a consistent content calendar in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Digital Marketing and Communications; recommending creative campaign ideas. Writes platform-tailored social media content and creates social media promotion kits in-line with brand voice. Schedules social media content on multiple Institute social media accounts; monitors and interacts with our audience, as well as our affiliates and external partnersâ™ channels. Monitors daily news coverage, making connections to our research for social media promotion. Supports website development, migrations, and creation processes through content management and quality assurance; supports ongoing search engine optimization projects. Supports the creation of email marketing campaign and newsletters related to specific programs, events, and other projects. Supports upkeep of email stakeholder lists and forms. Manages digital publicity for Institute events and general programming, including webinars; collaborates with Communications Associate on student events and programming as needed. Monitors and tracks digital analytics across all online platforms (web, social, email); collaborates with Research Communications Associate and Sr. Manager to identify areas of success and areas for improvement, utilizing metrics to inform message delivery times, annual reporting, and strategy development Monitors the social media presence of Institute affiliated initiatives, associated schools and centers, and external partners, for climate-related updates that would be appropriate for cross-promotion Accomplishes assigned duties through two or more of the following: written communications; visual/graphic media, which may include Web site development and maintenance; speeches and personal contact. The incumbent is still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Continues to build higher level knowledge of the University, processes and customers. Performs other related work as needed. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelorâ™s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working in a communications role. Managing websites, email and/or social media accounts in a professional capacity. Background in energy/climate issues strongly desired and encouraged to apply. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Analytics. Proficiency in web-based communication methods and tools such as HootSuite, HubSpot, Canva and WordPress or similar platforms. Preferred Competencies Knowledge of current trends and best practices in digital engagement and their applications to communication strategies, including through web, email and social media. Exceptional interpersonal skills, and work both independently with a high degree of initiative and collaboratively as part of a team. Work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including management, colleagues, researchers, students, and outside vendors and collaborators. Strategic and creative thinking, project management and planning skills. Manage and prioritize job tasks, perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines in a timely manner while maintaining professionalism and product quality. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills, creativity, flexibility, and attention to detail. Working Conditions This is a hybrid position, with an expected 2-3 days on campus per week.
