The Finance Officer at Mitera Health HMO will be responsible for managing the organization's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring the smooth flow of funds within the HMO, particularly related to premium collection, claims payments, and provider settlements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices, premium collections, and reconciliation of statements.
Prepare and process payments to healthcare providers, vendors, and other payees in accordance with established agreements and policies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and journals.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and identify areas for cost optimization.
Reconcile bank statements and various financial accounts regularly.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
Process and verify claims payments, collaborating with the Claims and Underwriting teams to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare financial reports for management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA) is a strong advantage.
Proven experience (3-5 years) in a finance role, with demonstrated experience in accounts payable, receivable, and financial reporting.
Experience in the healthcare or insurance sector is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong ethical conduct and commitment to financial integrity.
