We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Farm Hand to join our greenhouse team. The ideal candidate will assist in the daily operations of our greenhouse unit, supporting the cultivation, care, and harvesting of a variety of vegetables and high-value crops.
This role is physically demanding and requires consistency, time management, and a keen eye for healthy plant growth.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the planting, transplanting, pruning, trellising, and harvesting greenhouse crops (e.g., tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, leafy greens).
Monitor plant health and report signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies.
Support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, including manual pest control and application of organic/inorganic treatments.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of greenhouse work areas.
Assist in regular calibration and operation of irrigation systems (drip systems, fertigation units).
Monitor temperature, humidity, and ventilation systems and alert the supervisor to any anomalies.
Ensure greenhouse tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly.
Accurately log planting dates, fertiliser application, pest control treatments, and harvest data.
Maintain a crop diary as instructed by the supervisor.
Harvest produce according to quality and maturity standards.
Sort, grade, wash, and package produce for market or transport.
Minimise post-harvest losses through proper handling and storage practices.
Follow safety protocols and hygiene standards.
Assist in training and guiding seasonal or casual workers during peak times.
Perform additional farm-related duties as required, including support in nearby crop or livestock units if needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of SSCE/WAEC certificate; agricultural training is a plus.
At least 1 year of experience working on a greenhouse or vegetable farm.
Basic understanding of plant growth and greenhouse operations.
Physically fit and able to perform manual labour for extended periods in hot/humid environments.
Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and communicate effectively.
Familiarity with greenhouse technology (e.g., shade nets, insect-proof screens, drip irrigation, fertigation).
Experience with organic or sustainable farming practices.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Fluency in English, Hausa and/or Yoruba.
