We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Midwife with proven clinical experience to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in providing comprehensive maternal and newborn care, antenatal and postnatal services, family planning, and emergency obstetric interventions. The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent patient communication, and adherence to best nursing and midwifery practices.
Key Responsibilities
Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to mothers and newborns.
Conduct safe deliveries and manage obstetric emergencies according to protocols.
Monitor maternal and fetal well-being during labour and delivery.
Counsel patients on family planning, reproductive health, and breastfeeding.
Administer prescribed medications and perform relevant clinical procedures.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Educate mothers and families on newborn care, nutrition, and health promotion.
Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare staff for optimal patient outcomes.
Adhere to infection prevention, control, and safety standards.
Participate in community health outreach and maternal health education programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) qualifications from an accredited institution.
Certification: Current practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a hospital, maternity unit, or primary healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of maternal and child health care protocols.
Competence in handling obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation.
Excellent interpersonal, counselling, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and make quick clinical decisions.
Preferred Skills
Training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).
Experience in rural or low-resource healthcare settings.
Familiarity with health data recording and reporting tools.
