The Agronomist will oversee crop production and fodder/pasture management to support Amo Farm’s integrated poultry operations.
The role focuses on crop management, research and sustainability, data analysis, resource optimization, and farmer education to ensure consistent, high-quality raw material and fodder production while promoting climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices.

Key Responsibilities
Crop & Fodder Management:

Plan, establish, and manage crops and pastures for poultry feed and fodder.
Monitor crop growth cycles, ensuring timely planting, irrigation, and harvesting.
Implement best practices in fodder and pasture management to maximize yield and nutrition value.

Research, Data Collection & Analysis:

Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate crop varieties, fertilizers, and farming practices.
Collect and analyze soil, crop, and yield data to guide decision-making.
Prepare reports and presentations for management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.

Sustainability Practices:

Develop and implement climate-smart and environmentally sustainable farming methods.
Promote soil health management through crop rotation, cover cropping, and organic inputs.
Ensure compliance with agricultural and environmental standards.

Resource Development & Optimization:

Recommend efficient use of water, fertilizers, and other farm inputs.
Support the development of new resources (improved seed varieties, innovative fodder species, etc.).
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high productivity.

Farmer Advisory & Collaboration:

Provide technical advice to outgrower farmers on crop production and sustainable farming methods.
Work with cross-functional teams (feed mill, production, and procurement) to align crop production with farm needs.
Collaborate with research institutions and industry partners for knowledge sharing and innovation.

Education & Training:

Train farm workers, extension officers, and farmers on agronomic best practices.
Develop training manuals, guides, and workshops to build capacity.
Facilitate knowledge transfer of modern agronomic techniques to rural farming communities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Increase in crop and fodder yield per hectare.
Percentage adoption of sustainable farming practices.
Accuracy and timeliness of agronomic data and reports.
Farmer satisfaction and knowledge uptake from training programs.
Contribution to reducing feed/fodder supply gaps for poultry production.

Qualifications & Experience

B.Sc. / M.Sc Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Soil Science, or related field.
3–5 years’ experience in crop/fodder management, preferably in large-scale or integrated agribusiness.
Proven experience with research, data collection, and analysis in agriculture.
Knowledge of pasture and fodder crop systems for livestock/poultry.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong research, analytical, and data interpretation skills.
Knowledge of sustainable and climate-smart agriculture.
Excellent communication, presentation, and training abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external stakeholders.
Competence with digital tools for farm data collection and analysis.
