Afripoint Group is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accountant / Cost Accountant to join our Finance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all accounting functions, preparing financial reports, monitoring costs, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal control systems.
This role requires a professional who is ICAN certified, possesses excellent analytical skills, and demonstrates a strong understanding of cost management and financial reporting principles.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support audit activities by providing relevant data and documentation.
Ensure timely posting and reconciliation of all financial transactions.
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
Develop and implement cost control systems to monitor production, operating, and overhead costs.
Conduct variance analysis between actual and standard costs, and recommend corrective actions.
Analyze cost trends and prepare detailed cost reports for management decision-making.
Participate in periodic inventory valuation and stock reconciliations.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets across departments.
Review financial performance against budget and provide variance explanations.
Provide data-driven insights to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
Taxation & Compliance:
Ensure accurate computation and timely remittance of taxes (PAYE, VAT, WHT, CIT, etc.).
Ensure compliance with all financial, statutory, and internal control regulations.
Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies as required.
Financial Controls & Systems:
Enforce internal control policies to safeguard company assets.
Support implementation and maintenance of accounting software and ERP systems.
Recommend and implement process improvements for greater accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
ICAN Certification (fully qualified) — mandatory.
Minimum of 3–5 years relevant experience in accounting, cost accounting, or financial management roles.
Strong understanding of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and cost control principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
