GOALPrime Organization Nigeria (GPON) is a non-governmental and nonprofit organization that strife to make life of vulnerable women and children better through revitalized partnership. GPON provides life-skill education and psychosocial support to conflict-affected, WaSH community or camp services, Education in emergency services, Gender-based Violence mitigation services, Child protection service, Protection monitoring services, Nutrition and public health services.Duration: 3 months

Location: Talata Mafara LGA, Zamfara State

Responsibilities

The position holder will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Child Protection, Gender, and Disability Inclusion (GDI) activities under the ECW-FER project in Talata Mafara. The role will contribute to psychosocial support (PSS), gender mainstreaming, disability inclusion, and safeguarding in line with GPON’s policies, donor requirements, and project objectives. The Assistant will work closely with children, families, case workers, Facilitators, Gender champions, CBCPC’s teachers, community structures, and relevant stakeholders to ensure inclusive, safe, and equitable access to education and protection services.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Implementation & Support

Support the mainstreaming of gender and disability inclusion across all program activities, ensuring that interventions are responsive to the needs of girls, boys, children with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
Assist in conducting child protection, gender, and disability assessments, including community mapping, safety audits, and needs identification.
Provide direct psychosocial support through individual and group sessions for at-risk children and youth identified via project activities or referrals.
Support the development and dissemination of inclusive training materials and IEC tools, ensuring accessibility and gender responsiveness.
Facilitate awareness sessions for children, caregivers, and communities on child protection, gender equality, disability inclusion, GBV prevention, and safeguarding.
Contribute to recruitment, orientation, and support of volunteer teachers and learning facilitators, ensuring inclusive learning spaces.
Assist in organizing training for teachers,  SBMCs, and community actors on gender and disability inclusion, safeguarding, and PSS.
Ensure all project activities adhere to Do No Harm principles and safeguarding standards.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)

Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of gender, disability, and child protection indicators.
Assist in administering assessments, follow-ups, and surveys to measure the quality and impact of psychosocial support and inclusion activities.
Contribute to documentation of case studies, lessons learned, success stories, and significant changes.
Support in managing and referring complaints and feedback, in coordination with the MEAL team.

Community Engagement & Coordination

Facilitate relationships with community leaders, religious leaders, children, youth groups, and other stakeholders to ensure buy-in and promote inclusive participation.
Support advocacy initiatives addressing barriers to education and protection for girls, children with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.
Participate in coordination meetings, networks, and working groups on child protection, gender, and disability inclusion at community and LGA levels.
Represent GPON at the community level, ensuring project activities are well-communicated, inclusive, and recognized.

Reporting & Documentation

Assist in preparing concise reports, activity updates, and documentation for management and donors.
Maintain accurate and confidential case files, records of psychosocial support sessions, and activity reports.
Provide timely updates on challenges, progress, and field-level needs to the supervisor.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Ensure all child protection, gender, and inclusion activities comply with GPON’s safeguarding policies.
Identify risks and support the development of mitigation measures in collaboration with the safeguarding officer.
Promote children’s rights and well-being, including in times of emergency response.

Other Responsibilities

Support staff well-being activities such as peer-to-peer support and stress management awareness sessions.
Languages
Fluency in English and Hausa, other spoken languages in the community, is an added advantage.
Work Environment
In the Community and schools in Talata Mafara LGA.
