We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Farm Hand to support daily operations on our open-field crop section.
The ideal candidate will assist with land preparation, planting, weeding, irrigation, fertilisation, pest control, and harvesting.
This is a physically demanding role suited for individuals who are passionate about agriculture and enjoy working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in soil preparation, including tilling, bed formation, and compost application.
Perform timely planting of crops according to the farm schedule.
Conduct manual and mechanical weeding as needed.
Apply fertilisers and pesticides safely and in accordance with instructions.
Set up, operate, and maintain irrigation systems.
Support crop monitoring, record-keeping, and scouting for pests or diseases.
Harvest crops by hand or using farm equipment, ensuring minimal damage.
Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the farm area.
Report any issues with crops, equipment, or systems to the Open Field Supervisor or Farm Manager promptly.
Assist in loading, sorting, and storing harvested produce.

Qualifications

Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Previous experience working on a farm, especially with crop production, is preferred.
Basic understanding of planting cycles, pest control, and irrigation.
Physically fit and able to work long hours in the sun, rain, or dusty conditions.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions closely.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Trustworthy, punctual, and responsible.
Familiarity with local crop types and growing seasons.
Experience with basic farm machinery (e.g., hoes, knapsack sprayers, wheelbarrows, small tractors).
Knowledge of safe chemical handling practices.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Fluency in English, Hausa and/or Yoruba.
